How the guides on this site are researched, written, checked, dated and corrected — and why they are published under an editorial identity rather than an invented author.

Who writes this
Guides are published under URL Extractor Editorial. That is the site's editorial identity, not a person.
We could invent a plausible author with a photograph, a job title and a decade of experience. Plenty of sites do. We would rather tell you what is actually true: this content is produced and maintained by the people who build these tools, and it is signed with the site's name because that is what is accountable for it.
There are no fabricated biographies here, no "reviewed by" badges from people who did not review anything, and no expertise scores.
How a guide is written
1. Establish what is actually true. Behaviour is checked against primary sources — the sitemaps protocol, the HTML specification, the robots.txt RFC, Google's own documentation, a library's own reference — rather than against other articles on the same topic.
2. Run every example. Code and spreadsheet formulas are executed against the environment named next to them before publication. Where an example has a known failure case, the guide shows the failure rather than only the success.
3. Say what does not work. Every guide has a limitations section. For most readers this is the most valuable part: knowing that a crawl cannot find unlinked pages, or that OCR cannot recover a link hidden behind "click here", saves more time than another worked example.
4. Cite where it matters. Claims that need support carry a link to the primary source, listed at the end of the guide.
5. Link to the tool honestly. Guides link to the tool that does the job, and also describe how to do it without us — with a formula, a script, or a browser feature. A guide that only works as an advertisement is not a guide.
Dates
- Published is the genuine first publication date.
- Updated appears only when the content has meaningfully changed — a corrected fact, a revised method, a new limitation.
Fixing a typo does not move the date. Republishing unchanged content with a fresh date to look current is a tactic, not an update, and we do not do it.
Corrections

Material corrections are made promptly and the modification date is updated. If a correction changes the conclusion of a guide, the guide says what changed rather than quietly replacing the text.
On experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust
Google describes these as qualities that helpful content tends to demonstrate. They are principles, not a score to display and not a badge to claim.
What we can demonstrate: the tools described in these guides are the tools running on this site, built by the people writing about them; the examples are executed rather than imagined; sources are cited; limits are stated; and errors are corrected with the date changed.
What we will not do: invent credentials, fabricate testimonials, claim awards, quote user counts we have not measured, or compare ourselves against competitors with numbers we cannot support.
Advertising and independence
If advertising is enabled on this site, ads are clearly separated from the tools and from the content. No guide is written, altered or ranked because of an advertiser, and no tool result is influenced by one.
